School Board

School Boardpbpc2025-06-06T15:36:14+08:00

The council or board of a public school works with the school community to achieve the best outcomes for students. It plays an important role in contributing to good school governance so that school resources are used efficiently, and community expectations and the school’s priorities reflect the needs of students.

The Pickering Brook Primary School Board meets regularly to discuss matters pertinent to the school, and members are elected for a term of 3 years.

The School Board is a body of school and community members that oversee the activities of the school.

Pickering Brook Primary School Board Members:

Tanya Dique – School Principal
Tanya has been Principal at Pickering Brook since 2021, with a one-year break spanning 2023-2024. Tanya has been a member of School Boards at many schools she has worked at, and also at her own children’s school. Tanya appreciates the different perspectives members of the School Board can provide, and values the Board’s advice, input and insights. When not at school, Tanya enjoys creative pursuits, reading and spending time with family, friends and her dog, Reggie.

Gabby Zavatteri- Board Chair

Gabby has lived in the Perth hills her whole life in Roleystone and currently has 2 children attending the school. Gabby is a member of the P&C and volunteer parent helper for gardening club every Tuesday. Every morning, Gabby and her children take the short drive across the hill to Pickering Brook because she feels she has found the most unique little school for her children. Gabby feels as if she has found a little gem and her children could not be happier, nor could the education quality be better. In her spare time, Gabby enjoys being outdoors, loves bushwalking and exercising as well as being in the goldfields gold prospecting and spending time at the family farm.

Danielle Della Pollina – Parent Representative
Growing up on a farm in the wheatbelt, Danielle is no stranger to living in a small community. Danielle has lived the the Kalamunda Shire since she was 17 and now proudly lives in Pickering Brook with her busband since 2017, who comes from local agricultural background and was also a second generation PBPS student. Now with their own children as 3rd generation students here, Danielle has an active interest in the connection and growth of the school and the community. She is a member of the P&C since 2025 and has also run Little Apples Playgroup since 2020. With a background in horticulture, Danielle enjoys gardening, being outdoors with her family and cooking with local and homegrown produce. She believes being part of a small community school has something pretty special to offer many suburban schools miss out on.

Rose Giardina – Community Representative
Rose is a long-time resident of the Perth hills and has fond memories of Pickering Brook Primary School. She attended Pickering Brook Primary School as a student and had grandchildren attend in past years. Rose has been a community member of our School Board since 2017.

Robyn Southorn – Staff Representative

Robyn has worked at PBPS since 2015, working with all year levels over the years. Robyn grew up in the Shire of Kalamunda and attended Kalamunda SHS. After spending 20 years plus in Port Hedland, working in schools there for many years, she returned to live in the shire 10 years ago. Robyn loves the little community of Pickering Brook and the wonderful spirit it has towards the school. Robyn says, ‘It is such a pleasure to be part of this team of educators/community and to see the students grow and learn throughout their primary school journey’.
